Turret

Turrets are ambient demons that first appear in Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods - Part One.

Upon detecting the player, the turret's "eye" will pop out from its base and unleash a volley of bluish-white energy bolts at the player. Taking out this eye is the only way to destroy a turret.

Codex Entry[]

Invented by the Hell Priest Deag Nilox centuries ago, Turrets contain imprisoned lesser demons that serve as stationary guards for their dark masters. Taking the form of a single unnatural eye and rising from their fellsteel containers to fire on any intruders nearby, Turrets defend the spaces around them and previously served as a direct visual link for their Hell Priest Creator. With Deag Nilox now dead by the Slayer's hand the Turrets are directionless, and persist as undying traps that lash out with bursts of energy at anything that comes near.

Strategy[]

Turrets have a long but not unlimited range, and the Slayer must be close enough for the Turret's eye to rise and make itself vulnerable. The Turret's eye will duck and hide if the Slayer moves too close to it, a distance of roughly five meters, or if the reticle lingers over the eye for too long, approximately four seconds. High precision weapons like the Ballista and Precision Bolt are most effective and will destroy a Turret in two hits. The Turret drops some ammo shards upon death, and the Slayer will immediately absorb these shards if needed, regardless of distance.
