The Doom Hacker's Guide is a 299-page book written by Richard H. "Hank" Leukart, III, published by MIS:Press, and released on March 1, 1995.

CD-ROM[]

The book was packaged with a CD-ROM containing the following editing programs for the original Doom (versions 1.2 and 1.666), Doom II (versions 1.666, 1.7, and 1.7a), and the original Heretic (version 1.2); the included editing programs are not compatible with The Ultimate Doom, Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders, version 1.7, 1.7a, 1.8, or 1.9 of the original Doom, or version 1.8 or 1.9 of Doom II:

  • DeHackEd (version 2.2, DOS, multipurpose WAD editing tool)
  • DeuSF (version 3.1, DOS, graphic editing tool)
  • DeuTex (version 3.1, DOS, multipurpose WAD editing tool)
  • DoomCAD (versions 4.3 and 5.1, Windows, level editor)
  • Doom Editing Utilities (DEU) (version 5.21, DOS, level editor)
  • Edmap (version 1.30, DOS, level editor)
  • MIDI2MUS (version 2.04, DOS, audio editor)
  • MUS2MIDI (version 1.0, DOS, audio editor)
  • New WAD Tool (NWT) (version 1.3, DOS, multipurpose WAD editing tool)
  • Vb DeuTex (version 3.1, Windows, multipurpose WAD editing tool)
  • WADED (version 1.81, DOS, level editor)
  • WinDEU (version 5.23, Windows, level editor)

The included CD also contained various custom made DeHackEd files, as well as additional levels, and graphic and audio add-ons.
