There is very clear information in the game (Doom Eternal) that isn't represented here. The Khan Maker has several very telling lines, coupled with the flashbacks and codex entries paint a pretty definitive picture of the connection between Doom 1,2,and 64 with Doom4 + Eternal.
The Khan Maker Tells the Slayer that he can be sent back, given back that which teh demons took from him.
The Slayer was found by the Sentinels, coming from the same rift that the Demons eventually come through.
The Khan Maker had no knowledge of Hell before the Slayer, it is clear that Hell exists outside normal reality (can't be traveled to by ship).
The Slayer, having had his own reality and earth invaded, rampaged across hell for many years until the means of travel to the Doom4 Dimension was opened.
The Earth in Doom 4 is pretty clearly intended to be in another Reality, The Khan Maker is offering the Doom Slayer a chance to return to his own dimension and leave the one he has found himself in ever since he came across the Sentinels, so they can continue their Invasion. It wouldn't make any sense for the Khan Maker to offer the Doom Slayer the chance to return to his Earth, where no Demons exist, when they are currently Invading Earth. They want to send the Slayer back to his own Dimension so they can have carte blanch in the one the game takes place in.
The Khan Maker says the Doom slayer has Doomed "yet another world" (referring to the earth from his original reality) Keep in mind, the Khan Maker, Sentinels, etc are all limited to the Doom4 reality, and were not made aware of other realities existing until they came across the Hell dimension (which again, seems to exist and be a constant throughout different realities and ties them together allowing travel between them).
The Article makes it seem liek there is no concrete answer but the Game itself pretty clearly defines these facts, or somthign very similar. The dimension in Doom4 is clearly not the same Earth as the classic games, but the Slayer is the same, he has moved to this new dimension and gone through what happened on his earth all over again, which really defines the way he treats teh entire situation right from Doom 4 all teh way through Eternal.
Hell exists outside these different realities, and the denizens of hell itself aren't actively seeking out places to take over. The reason they are only targeting "a single Earth" is because they aren't targeting anything, the Khan Maker is using the Hell armies as a means to an end in her own dimension where the current Earth resides.
