Timeline[]
- Ultimate Doom
- The Marine fights through Phobos, and teleports to Deimos. Note: In this version there is no ambush at end Phobos Anomoly, and his teleportation to Deimos.
- The Marine fights his way through Deimos and defeats the Cyberdemon.
- Somehow the Marine teleports to Earth finding it corrupted by Hell.
- He fights his way through corrupted earth city, and then corrupted countryside.
- The Hero's victory enabled humankind to evacuate Earth and escape the nightmare. But then Earth Control pinpoints the source of the alien invasion. The marine is their only hope. He painfully gets up and returns to the fray.
- Hell On Earth
- The hero continues his fight through Earth, returning to the city. He finds a portal to Hell.
- The hero fights through hell, and kills a Spider Master mind behind the invasion of the Martian moons and Earth.
- The Marine had done it; by turning the evil of the horrors of Hell in upon itself he had destroyed the power of the demons. Their dreadful invasion had been stopped cold. Now he could retire to a lifetime of frivolity (or so he thought). Congratulations were given to him.
Behind the scenes[]
The 3rd set of levels of Ultimate Doom is set on Earth because of a bug/mistake by the developers. But the ending of the Ultimate Doom is also essentially tells events of first act of Doom II (with the Marine finding the signal and helping survivors escape earth). Meaning that at least a third of the levels were set on Earth (at least the levels taken from Ultimate Doom). This ending also appeared in the earlier PSX doom. But that version replaced episode 3 stuff with animated hellfire. Even the last level of campaign at the end of the Thyy Flesh Consumer levels (presumably set on earth) had the animated hellfire. See Midway timeline.
