Dr. Malcolm Betruger is a character from Doom 3, voiced by Philip L. Clarke. He is the head scientist of the UAC on Mars and, ultimately, the main antagonist of Doom 3

At the start of Doom 3, Betruger is being investigated by Councilor Swann for his strange activities. He is a madman obsessed with the occult and satanism. He steals the soul cube from the Mars Base and secures it in Hell so that the Marines there have no chance of combatting the forces of Hell, especially its mightiest warrior, the Cyberdemon, who is vulnerable only to the soul cube's attack.

Dr. Bertruger makes a second appearence in the Doom series merged with the Maledict in Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil.

Trivia

Betruger's name comes from the German word "betrüger" which means "deceiver".

Dr. Reinhart from Evil Dead: Regeneration" is a rather undisguised parody of Betruger. In addition to looking similar(with a solid white eye), both were said to have been good before their pacts with the undead. They also have German names.
