The Loremaster fails to hit the player with his grappling hook attack.

Closeup of the Loremaster.

The Loremaster is the fifth major boss of Strife, and he is the holder of either the fourth or the fifth Sigil piece, depending on whether the plot path the player is on leads to the not-so-good ending or to the best ending, respectively.

He is considered to be a religious leader, and the most powerful of all the Order's generals. He is found in the Lab near the Space Ship, and has 800 hit points.

Instead of arms, the Loremaster has a series of small green tentacles, with two thicker white/grey ones under where his arms should be, the two much thicker 'arms' ones. He floats around with no visible legs.

He appears to be in charge of creating new troops for The Order as not only does the manual say he created the 'Inquisitor', but his lair features various experiment pieces in the background, and a processing factory for creating Acolytes.

Tactical analysis

He attacks by shooting a grappling hook, which will pull his target towards him. Due to the variance in elevation in his arena, this can pull the player and drop them a long distance to inflict serious damage. However the hits from the hook alone deal minor damage. When the Loremaster dies, his Spectre will come out. The Spectre fires Sigil E shots, and is the most powerful of the five Spectres in the game.

Once the Loremaster is defeated, the player will (if on the plot path leading to the best ending) have the full Sigil assembled, allowing them to unlock the spaceship that leads to the Entity's lair and the end of the game. His Lab is located within the factory in the Order Commons.
