The LRG timeline is variant of the Doom 64 Remaster timeline included with some of the Limited Run Games Collector Edition releases of Doom 64 (2020 remaster), as well as other LRG Collector's Edition releases of Doom + Doom II. As well as their announced version of Doom: Collector's Editon for the SNES (which includes a reprint of the Doom SNES manual (which has specific timeline dates). It is similar to the Nintendo timeline (but with the additional references from Doom II/Final Doom, etc)
Background[]
You Killed The Demons Once, They Were All Dead.. Or So You Thought...
SNES Doom's manual lists two specific dates including July 1, 2021, and March 15, 2022. Indicating that Doom 1's events occur roughly between those two dates, and occurring as late as March 2022 in this version's timeline (as in the original Nintendo timeline).
These include a reprint of the manual for Doom 64 with the original backstory, and the box mentions the original idea that the marine has fought the demons 'once before' as a reference to classic doom/SNES Doom (which they have announced an upcoming expanded version that contains all the levels of Ultimate Doom (and apparently reprints the SNES manual (possibly expanded to include the new details).
Since its the remaster version it also includes the The Lost Levels of Doom 64 the second episode of Doom 64 that leads into the period discussed in the Slayer Codexes between Doom 64 and Doom: The Dark Ages.
Presumably the setting of Doom 64 isn't specified (it could be Mars such as stated other digital PC releases, or it could be Phobos much like in the NES release). But is most likely Phobos due to its connection with the Doom Collector's Edition for the SNES release (and all versions of Doom + Doom II).
Although how this fits together with Doom II is unknown however... Since the box/original manual claims he has only encountered Demons once before (and ignored the events of events of Doom II, see Nintendo timeline.
Certain details don't quite match up... since original story in manual appears to take place on Earth... after the Marine retired... There is no indication of Earth's invasion or genocide of 90% of its population (In Doom II at one point all rest of humanity is evacuated from earth leaving the Marine the last survivor on the planet.) Since there wasn't mass genocide of the planet... This allowed UAC to classify the invasion in Doom I, and most people on Earth are not aware that it happened.
But with the addition of Thy Flesh Consumed in the expanded SNES Doom he did make it to earth after the invasion (to find Earth already invaded). And the references to Doom 64 taking place after Doom 64 at least suggests unlike the original story... Which would mean all humanity would have witnesses making classifying Doom II kinda pointless... Nor really a reason to classify the events of Doom I for that matter since there wouldn't be anyone left who hadn't already learned about the demons... Only reason to classify might be to hide the fact that UAC was involved (and caused the invasion in the first place) from the civilians... Since that information might lead to their rebelling from UAC control...
Meanwhile if guy from Doom retired, and never fought demons after events of Doom, after the events of Thy Flesh Consumed..... Does that mean it's treating the Marine (Doom II) as a separate character again? Who came to earth from Mars? Or does it consider "he fought the demons once" as including all events from start of Doom 1 to the end of Doom II as one invasion? And that he retired after Doom II?
The LRG Making of Doom 64 remaster guide states:
- "It's emphasis on atmosphere and deliberate pacing causes Doom 64 to work as a spiritual bridge between Final Doom and DOOM 3--a missing link of sorts."

- March 15 - Mars receives a message from Phobos base stating that the base is under attack and requesting backup.[2]
- A few hours later, the marines land and try to stop the invasion. The Marine is ordered to stay behind and protect the perimeter. The marine forces are wiped out or turned into monsters. Planetary authorities send the final Marine the new DOOMNL 01-D19505-1D replacing earlier manual (now including briefing for the Marine, and images from the invasion captured by remote video cameras. The video data was computer analyzed by the UAC and the results are provided "here and only here").[3] The Marine leaves the escape pod vowing to take down as much of the invasion force as possible before death.
- Knee Deep In the Dead begins as the Marine arrives in the Hangar Atrium.
- Knee Deep in the Dead ends as the Doom marine is ambushed by the forces of hell upon arriving on Deimos, and presumably dies. **Shores of Hell begins as the Doom Marine finds himself revived somehow, and pushes against the forces of Hell.
- Shores of Hell ends as the Doom Marine rappels down the surface of Deimos, discovering that it is now orbiting above Hell itself.
- Inferno begins as the Doom Marine arrives on the surface of Hell.
- Inferno ends with the Doom Marine killing the Spider Mastermind, the general of the Phobos and Deimos invasions, and returning to Earth.
- Thy Flesh Consumed begins.
- Thy Flesh Consumed ends.
- Doom SNES (LRG remake)/PC ends.
- Inferno Ending: The loathsome spiderdemon that masterminded the invasion of the moon bases and caused so much death has been beaten for all time. A hidden doorway opens and you enter. You've proven far too tough for Hell to contain, and now Hell at last plays fair -- for you emerge from the door to see the green fields of Earth! Home at last. I wonder what's been happening on Earth while you battled the evil unleashed. It's a good thing that no Hell-spawn could have come through that door with you ...
- Doom II (LRG releases/Doom + Doom II)
- Final Doom (LRG releases/Doom + Doom II)[4]
- After Hell's catastrophic invasion of Earth, the United States took steps to prevent such an invasion from recurring. The UAC was disbanded and refounded under completely new leadership in order to create a quantum accelerator that can close interdimensional gates at a distance to prevent further demonic invasions. The gate was constructed successfully, and it successfully shutdown an invasion before it could start. The next day, however, a ring of seven gates opened at once. The quantum accelerator was able to close six of them, but the accelerator was shutdown by the invasion before it could close the last one. This leaves you, the only remaining marine to find and close the last gate, and stop the Gatekeeper before it's too late.
- The UAC, hoping to continue their research, has set up shop on one of the moons of Jupiter, hoping the increased distance would prevent any disaster threatening Earth. Once again, the demons of Hell attempt to breakthrough, but the threat is contained. Months later, a supply ship was spotted earlier than expected. Upon confronting the ship, the UAC discovered this was not their ship. Built of bone, steel, flesh, corruption, and death, the ship released a demon invasion on the base, routing them with an attack from behind. This attack leaves you, the lone survivor, left to clean up the mess, and stop the demon invasion before it could reach Earth.
- Legacy of Rust (LRG releases/Doom + Doom II)
- "Vassago's Rest", the ancient inscriptions called it. With the meaning of the name lost to time, it wasn't long before the interlopers began calling the land by another: "New Eden". Just like the Garden of old, mankind's exile from this newly-settled realm was swift and brutal. This remote region of Hell, overflowing in (un-)natural resources as it were, was almost entirely devoid of demonic presence. The Union Aerospace Corporation, never one to shy away from hubris and excess, learned the hard way that even the demons feared something greater, something deeper. When the Ones Beneath awoke, the UAC's crown jewel was swallowed in a cascade of blood and fire. Three hours- all it took to reduce New Eden to a sea of molten glass. Three minutes - all it took before the UAC's top brass played their ace. Three seconds - all it took for you to weigh the risks before accepting the job. Your orders are clear. reclaim the lost base, and preserve the UAC's Legacy. Or die trying.
- Your fatigue was enormous, the price for encountering pure evil. Hell was a place no mortal was meant to experience. Stupid military doctors: their tests and treatments, were of little help. In the end, what did it matter - it was all classified and sealed. The nightmares continued. Demons, so many Demons; relentless, pouring through.
- Far Away... The planetary policy was clear. An absolute quarantine was guaranteed by apocalyptic levels of radiation. The empty dark corridors stand motionless, abandoned. The installations sealed.
- Doom SNES (LRG remake)/PC begins...
- Years later
- Doom 64 begins:
- The Present... A long forgotten relay satellite barely executing, decayed by years of bombarding neutrons, activates and sends its final message to Earth. The satellites message was horrific, from the planetary void there came energy signatures unlike anything sampled before. The classified archives are opened. The military episodes code named "DOOM" were not actually completed. A single entity with vast rejuvenation powers, masked by the extreme radiation levels, escaped detection. In its crippled state, it systematically altered decaying dead carnage back into corrupted living tissue. The mutations are devastating. The Demons have returned even stronger and more vicious than before. As the only experienced survivor of the DOOM episode, your commission is re-activated. Your assignment is clear: MERCILESS EXTERMINATION.
- Doom Guy returns to Space installation (Doom 64) (Phobos? Mars?).
- Doom 64 ends:
- Finally... The mother of all demons is dead! The blood pours from your eyes as you stand in defiance. As the only marine to endure the slaughter-you decide to remain in Hell and ensure no demon ever rises again. The End...
- Lost Levels begins.
- Lost Levels Ends: The Marine had not expected to be torn from Hell so soon after his fateful decision. Getting back there was his only concern. The plans of the sister Resurrector to exterminate him had failed. A grim vision took hold of his mind as the demon carcasses steam in his wake. Stretched before him is was a path of perpetual torment... A path through DOOM...
- Doom 64 begins:

Here’s where things get purely theoretical (but oh-so-fun): let’s assume that the countless eons the DOOM Slayer waged war against Hell went for, well, as long as this particular universe can count. Our universe is widely considered to be about 13.8 billion years old, which we’ll say is 13.8 eons. "
