Jonaya Riley (formerly GrayLancer, JonnyFive) is a Doomer from the United States who was active in the Doom editing community from 2001 - 2004, left for several years, and re-entered the editing community in 2008 before disappearing again. She recently re-entered the editing community in 2021.
Although Riley began work on several projects in 1997 - 2002, her primary work has been on her partial/total conversion Cold as Hell, which was originally released in late 2004. The project gained some infamy for several serious bugs and performance flaws which were not addressed after release due to the author's sudden withdrawal from the editing community.
In 2008, Riley posted on the ZDoom forums indicating she intended to revise and update Cold as Hell1. Additionally, she began to work on a series of special effects intended primarily for ZDoom and GZDoom users.
After announcing Dead Rain, sequel to Cold As Hell, Jonaya once again disappeared from the community in 2009. On June 14th, 2021, Jonaya once again posted to the ZDoom forums, letting everyone know that she'd been out of the modding community for approximately 12 years due to a combination of personal factors. She has indicated that she may be working on new projects at some point in the future.
In addition to her work in the Doom fandom, Riley is a game developer, writer, and director in the Homestuck fandom, working as a narrative director on New Game Plus as well as the director and lead writer on the fan-made sequel to Hiveswap: Friendsim and Pesterquest known as Friendsim 2.
