The Doom Hunter is a new type of enemy introduced in Doom Eternal, and three of them serve as the first boss of the game. The Doom Hunter is a type of demon called the Agaddon Hunter from the Telos Realm, which was specifically designed to hunt the Doom Slayer and his Night Sentinels during the Unholy Crusade. It comes equipped with an arm-cannon, a twin-barred chainsaw arm, and a rocket barrage attack. It hovers on a hovertank-style "sled".

While the Agaddon Hunter was supposedly rendered extinct long ago, it is been stated that the remains of the Doom Hunter were found and excavated in a remote location in the Antarctic by the UAC cultists, where it was in hibernation that lasted for millennia. When it was excavated, the Doom Hunter was revived and mechanically augmented by both the cultists and Deag Ranak.

Combat Characteristics

Doom Hunters are Super Heavy demons that are armed with a wide variety of attacks which allow them to deal damage at all ranges. Their rocket boosters grant them limited flight.

  • Slashes at the Slayer with its chainsaw arm, dealing heavy melee damage.
  • Uses its arm cannon to shoot fireballs at the Slayer.
  • Uses the two guns mounted on its sled to shoot a barrage of bullets.
  • Fires a rocket barrage from the launchers on its sled. These rockets will home in on the Slayer, but their tracking can be shaken off by dashing or double-jumping.

The Doom Hunter's upper body is protected by a plasma shield that blocks all damage. The shield can be destroyed temporarily by using cell weapons like the Plasma Rifle, but will regenerate after some time. Its sled can be targeted without destroying its shield, which deals damage to the Doom Hunter.

Once the Doom Hunter has taken enough damage, it will say "CRITICAL DAMAGE" and abandon its sled, flying with only its upper body. With its sled gone, it loses access to its machine gun and rocket attacks, as well as its shield, but becomes more mobile and aggressive.
