The 2020 remaster of Doom 64, officially called Doom 64, stylized as DOOM 64, and often called Doom 64 2020 version, Doom 64 Remake, or a variant of Doom 64 Unity/Doom 64 Unity Remake (or Remaster) is a 2020 remaster of the Doom spin-off Doom 64. It was planned to launch alongside DOOM ETERNAL on November 23rd, 2019, but got pushed back, alongside ETERNAL, to March 20th, 2020. Although DOOM ETERNAL launched a day early on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Doom 64 kept the same release date. It was included in the Rip and Tear Pack, but unlike the other things included in the dlc-pack, it was available for purchase immediately following the launch date.

It was originally released by Midway (who made the PSX Doom games), in cooperation with id Software.<ref> The game has been re-released both digitally and, later, physically for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It was a pre-order bonus for Doom Eternal as a digital copy, and is also now available for PC on Steam.

Background[]

The Remaster has a different backstory to tie it into Doom 2016/Eternal and bulk of Classic Doom series:

DOOM 64 is an action first-person shooter and a direct sequel to the events of DOOM II.
Years have passed since you stopped Hell’s invasion of Earth. Quarantined for humanity’s safety, the UAC research facilities on Mars were abandoned and forgotten...until now. A signal from a degraded satellite suggests a single entity remains, and it has the power to resurrect the demons. As the only surviving marine who fought Hell’s forces, you are sent on a lone crusade to hunt down the Mother of Demons and stop a renewed demonic invasion.
Fight against demons in your crusade to hunt down the Mother of Demons and stop Hell's invasion. As you battle through more than 30 action-packed levels, be on the lookout for enhanced weapons and secrets to help you put an end to the demonic threat
