Doom 64 Remaster changes or condenses a number of details of the backstory and ending of the original Nintendo 64 release of Doom 64. For one it removes most of the references to Original Doom Episodes in the story summary, and ignores the references to the UAC bases being set on Phobos, instead placing them on Mars itself (similar to Doom II)'s backstory. In addition it places the events as a direct sequel to Doom II (rather than Doom I). It also introduces the The Lost Levels episode as an interlude between Doom 64 and Doom (2016)/Eternal.
DOOM 64 is an action first-person shooter and a direct sequel to the events of DOOM II.
Story[]
Years have passed since you stopped Hell’s invasion of Earth. Quarantined for humanity’s safety, the UAC research facilities on Mars were abandoned and forgotten...until now. A signal from a degraded satellite suggests a single entity remains, and it has the power to resurrect the demons. As the only surviving marine who fought Hell’s forces, you are sent on a lone crusade to hunt down the Mother of Demons and stop a renewed demonic invasion.

The Lost Levels[]
Following defeating the Mother of All Demons, Our Hero spent time tearing up hell. The Mother's sister Resurrector kicks the Marine out of hell back into a base on Earth, and tries to kill him. He fought his way through the base to find a portal back to Hell. He fights his way through this new section of Hell, and takes revenge on the sister.
Ending[]
You had not expected to be torn from Hell so soon after your fateful decision. Getting back there was your only concern. The plans of the sister Resurrector to exterminate you have failed.
A grim vision takes hold of your mind as the demon carcasses steam in your wake. Stretched before you is a path of perpetual torment... A path through DOOM...[1]
