Derek MacDonald (aka Afterglow) is a Canadian known for contributing detail-rich maps and textures to the Doom community. He created the Quake-style start map for SMMU, showing off many of its features. His service to the community has also included making new textures and flats available to allow mappers to create their own custom projects.
