The Chaingun returns to Doom Eternal with a new look. It no longer requires a spinup time to fire at maximum speed, and it uses the same ammo type as the Heavy Cannon.

Its Mobile Turret mod also returns to the fray, only it has four sets of barrels for maximum firepower. The turret stalls if it overheats. It also has an Energy Shield mod that absorbs damage for a short time.

Codex Entry

The M220 Chaingun is a 7.62x51 mm AE six-barreled autocannon built for infantry deployment. Weighing over 80 lbs, the M220 was conceived as a standard issue weapon for ARC mech-soldiers fitted with exo-armor - mechanized suits capable of supporting a heavier payload. The AE cartridge uses a special electromagnetic casing deigned specifically for the M220's rail system, which increases projectile velocity and reduces overheating. - Codex Entry
