There is technically a very high limit (65535) to the amount of armor that a player can accumulate in these versions of Doom; however, it is demonstratably impossible to construct an episode which contains enough collectable armor to cause an integer overflow.
Although there is no armor limit in these versions, a map's [[lump]] size in a [[PWAD]] has a [[Lump size limit|static limit]]. In other words, a map can contain only so many [[things]], and therefore only so many armor pickups.

Player with 225% armor

In versions of Doom 1.2 and earlier, armor percentage was not limited to 200. Since the armor count in the status bar has only three digits, the display can wrap around to 0 percent if enough armor bonuses are picked up to reach the thousands column.

There is technically a very high limit (65535) to the amount of armor that a player can accumulate in these versions of Doom; however, it is demonstratably impossible to construct an episode which contains enough collectable armor to cause an integer overflow.
